Titan Data Atlas

MCP server

Use it from your AI tool

The atlas runs a free, read-only MCP server at https://titan.swapniltamse.com/mcp. Connect it once and your assistant can find a product, list its files live, and walk you through opening it in a GIS.

Claude Code

Run in your terminal
claude mcp add --transport http titan https://titan.swapniltamse.com/mcp

Then ask something like: "Use titan to find the product with Titan's river channels, list its files, and tell me how to open it in QGIS."

Claude desktop and claude.ai

  1. Open Settings, then Connectors.
  2. Choose Add custom connector.
  3. Paste https://titan.swapniltamse.com/mcp as the URL. No sign-in is needed.

Other clients

Most MCP clients accept an mcp.json entry like this one.

mcp.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "titan": {
      "url": "https://titan.swapniltamse.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}

What it can do

list_products
List the products, optionally by level (raw, processed, map-ready) or audience (student, researcher, curious).
get_product
One product in full: explainer, DOIs, citation, license, size, which GIS tools open it, and its page.
find_products
Describe what you want to do in your own words and get the products that fit, ranked.
list_files
A live listing of the product's folder on data.astro.cornell.edu, with names, sizes, dates and links.
get_gis_recipe
Numbered steps to open a product in ArcGIS Pro, QGIS or JMARS, with the coordinate-system note and caveats.
get_sample
The converted sample files for a product, with absolute URLs, coordinate system and bounds.

The server is read-only, keeps no logs of your questions and needs no account. list_files fetches the public folder listing from data.astro.cornell.edu and caches it for an hour.
